My Approach:

My initial foray into the world of psychotherapy was through the  Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) lense and  techniques. In my traineeship I was exposed to and began working with the  more psychodynamic approach of Object Relations. This led to a greater interest in childhood trauma and family dynamics, with an emphasis on the inner child. At this time I became interested in the works of Pia Mellody and Melody Beattie regarding codependency, Dr. Patricia Love and her description of The Emotional Incest Syndrome, the healing of the inner child by John Bradshaw , and the inner parts therapy approach of Richard Schwartz called IFS, Internal Family Systems. Recently I've been exploring a more soul oriented approach. This includes the ego inquiry approach of Byron Katie, spiritual and archetypal parts exploration based on the work of C.G. Jung and Caroline Myss, as well as the works of Caroline Myss and Robert Ohotto on soul contracts, empaths,  and the Dark Night of the Soul.

Experience and Education:
I received my Masters in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis on Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University. My traineeship and internships included providing therapy to: HIV+ men, foster kids and their families,  and children and adults in a locked psychiatric facility. As a licensed therapist I worked with transitional aged young adults through the California Conservations Corps (CCC,) and provided individual and group therapy (process and psychoeducational) to drug and alcohol dependent individuals and their families and partners, as well as anger management/emotions management  groups. In my private practice I explored with cisgender and transgender individuals  daily conflicts rooted in childhood trauma, and worked with individuals and couples in which partners identified as heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual and sexually fluid. For a time I also provided clinical supervision to MFT trainees.
